Hot Air Balloon 11-8-2014
Late autumn balloon launches bring cool morning air and overcast skies that make burner blasts look incredible. As twilight settled in across the airfield, the ambient sky turned a soft slate blue, creating the perfect backdrop for flame exposure. I waited for the pilot to pull the blast valve to illuminate the envelope.
The photograph centers on the Firefly balloon with its signature zigzag chevron pattern in yellow, red, and olive. A roaring orange burner flame ignites the lower throat, casting a warm lantern glow through the fabric ribs. Soft, overcast evening clouds frame the craft, producing a cozy, balanced aviation wallpaper for your screen.
