Broken Window 2-3-2013
Checking out older, abandoned buildings often leads to quiet visual details shaped by years of weather and simple neglect. This cracked window pane caught my attention because moisture and dirt had accumulated between the cold outdoor air and the damp interior space. The heavy condensation formed textured vertical streaks across the glass, contrasting sharply against the quiet winter field visible through the missing corner.
The composition centers on the jagged glass break in the upper right, framed by a distressed, peeling metal window casing. Condensation runs down the frosted surface in irregular amber-tinted trickles, catching warm diffused light. Beyond the pane, muted brown trees and an open overcast field add depth, giving the photograph an authentic, tactile sense of stillness.
