Thorny Raindrop 12-11-2012
A late fall mist rolled through the yard, leaving heavy beads of cold water clinging to every wild bramble along the tree line. When the drizzle finally stopped, I grabbed my macro lens and walked the perimeter to catch small natural details before the breeze knocked them loose. Walking right up to the thicket made this quiet, overlooked detail stand out against the bare November woods.
The shot cuts straight across the frame along a deep purple thorny vine laden with water droplets suspended under the barbs. Each clear sphere acts like a tiny lens reflecting the pale sky, while the muted, out-of-focus background keeps the focus locked onto the sharp thorns and smooth surface tension of the water.
