Rockefeller Christmas Tree 12-17-2012
Navigating the dense holiday crowds around Rockefeller Plaza in New York City is always chaotic, but seeing the annual Christmas tree lit up in person is well worth the effort. Finding a clear shooting angle from street level took some patience between waves of spectators, but I managed to frame the full height of the spruce against the surrounding Midtown architecture.
The photograph displays the towering evergreen adorned with tens of thousands of multicolored lights, topped off by the bright illuminated star. Surrounding limestone skyscrapers and rows of light-wrapped trees flank the scene, capturing the classic festive energy of New York City during the winter season.
