Rob Zombie 6-23-2015
Photographing live rock concerts from the crowd means dealing with heavy stage fog, erratic spotlight movement, and fast-paced performers. When Rob Zombie stepped to center stage, he took complete command of the room, gripping the microphone stand and working the crowd with relentless energy. I timed the exposure just as a massive floodlight hit him from behind to carve out his silhouette.
The resulting black-and-white image highlights the harsh stage lighting, accentuating the flying dreadlocks, heavy stage makeup, and patterned tunic. A bright blown-out backlight outlines his head and shoulders against the dark stage backdrop, creating a high-contrast performance shot packed with gritty rock texture.
