Vine Over Bricks 11-20-2012
Walking along an old brick exterior in late autumn, the geometric brickwork caught my eye right away. Most old masonry walls around here are laid out in standard running bond, but this builder took the extra time to craft a bold circular bullseye design that was slowly being overtaken by climbing wild vines.
The photograph captures a decorative ring of dark blue-glazed bricks set within a weathered red brick facade, crossed diagonally by a leafy creeping vine. Muted autumn leaves add organic contrast and rich texture to the repetitive mortar lines, creating a well balanced and rustic architectural detail shot.
