Rooster 7-7-2017
Spending time walking around a local farm coop offered a great opportunity to photograph farm animals up close. This rooster strutted right up to the wire pen with an alert posture, keeping a sharp eye on my camera lens. Working with an open aperture allowed me to blur out the wire fencing entirely, keeping full attention on the bird’s profile.
The macro-style portrait captures every detail of the rooster’s bright red wattle, textured crown, sharp yellow beak, and clean silver-white neck plumage. Soft, even overcast light wraps naturally around the subject, revealing fine feather structure and clean highlights without harsh glare across the eye or face.
