Gorillas 10-30-2017
I took this photo during a trip to the Bronx Zoo in May 2015. Watching the gorillas interact is always a highlight, especially when there is a young one around. The mother was sitting calmly in the patch of grass, completely focused on chewing a handful of greens. Her baby stayed close by her side, peeking out at the crowd with curious eyes.
This shot captures the mother gorilla seated upright while holding and eating a small bunch of grass. Her infant rests against her hip, looking directly toward the camera lens. The lush green grass fills the foreground and surrounds them, while soft natural light filters down through the dense enclosure trees in the background to show off the silver and dark tones of their thick fur coats.
