Sheep 6-30-2016
Visits to March Farm in Bethlehem are always great for relaxed outdoor photography and seeing local heritage livestock up close. Walking out toward the open pastures on a crisp autumn morning, this spotted Jacob sheep stood quietly by itself near the fence line, steadily grazing on the green pasture grass without paying much attention to visitors.
The composition isolates the four-horned sheep as it lowers its head into the turf, bringing out the dense texture of its thick, crimped wool coat. Soft natural daylight illuminates the contrasting patches of cream and chocolate brown across its fleece. Fresh green grass fills the foreground and drops into a soft blur behind it.
