Roatan Flower 11-24-2015
While exploring Gumbalimba Park on the island of Roatan, Honduras, I spotted these unique cannonball tree blossoms hanging along a lush garden path. The unusual structure, thick waxy petals, and intense tropical color immediately caught my attention beneath the shaded jungle canopy during our walk.
The composition focuses tightly on two open blossoms showing off reddish-orange petals, creamy white centers, and an intricate cluster of bright yellow stamens curving forward from the core. Softly diffused tropical sunlight filters through the background leaves, creating a smooth lime-green bokeh that pushes the textured floral details straight to the front of the frame.
