Ledge Lighthouse 10-12-2012
Pulling away from New London Ledge Lighthouse on a boat gave the perfect opportunity to break out a fisheye lens and take in the entire horizon. The ultra-wide field of view exaggerates the vastness of Long Island Sound while anchoring the isolated offshore beacon right in the center of the frame.
The vibrant red brick and white trim of the lighthouse stand out cleanly against dark, textured ocean waves below. Overhead, a wide blanket of textured gray clouds curves gracefully across the sky, reinforcing the solitary, rugged outpost feel of this historic New England maritime landmark resting in open water.
