Torrington at Night 12-23-2014
Two nights before Christmas, I took my tripod down to Main Street in downtown Torrington to capture the holiday lights and evening traffic flow. The sidewalks were quiet in the chilly winter air, but the glowing storefronts and holiday decorations gave the street a warm local glow. Standing on the curb gave me the perfect angle to frame the street as cars passed by.
An ultra-wide fisheye perspective bends the street scene, drawing in the illuminated Warner Theatre marquee and downtown storefronts beneath the dark night sky. Long exposure light trails from passing cars streak through the foreground in bold ribbons of red and white, adding energy and movement to the winter streetscape.
