Buttermilk Falls 3-24-2014
Walking further upstream from the main drop at Buttermilk Falls in Terryville leads you along the quiet feeder brook winding through the woods. Early morning light was just starting to crest over the snowy ridge, filtering through the dense stand of hemlock and pine trees and catching the surface of the clear stream.
The composition looks upstream from the center of the brook, following snow-dusted rocks and shallow ripples into the surrounding forest. Bright morning backlighting breaks through the tall tree line, casting golden reflections across the surface of the cold current while light snow blankets the forest floor on both banks.
