Fall Foliage 11-3-2013
A cold autumn morning left a scattering of fallen leaves on the outdoor wooden deck, coated with remnants of overnight rain. Getting down low with a tight macro angle let me isolate the delicate surface tension of the water drops before the morning sun evaporated them from the leaf surface.
Spherical water droplets sit suspended along the pale, weathered ribs of a dry autumn leaf resting on grooved cedar planks. A very shallow depth of field keeps the prominent central drop in tack-sharp focus, melting the background wood grain and distant foliage into smooth, warm circles of light across the frame.
