Sterling Opera House 8-24-2013
Positioning the camera dead center along the upper balcony railing gave me a commanding, balanced perspective over the entire Sterling Opera House theater. Looking down toward the proscenium arch, the geometry and structural balance of the nineteenth-century architecture become immediately obvious.
This wide-angle view frames the curved rows of maroon theater seats echoing the arch of the overhanging balcony structure above. Warm natural light washes across the wooden seating rows, aged side staircases, and vacant stage platform, bringing out subtle sepia and crimson tones. The strong architectural lines draw the eye smoothly from the foreground seats toward the empty performance stage.
