Sterling Opera House 8-15-2013

Stepping into this backstage dressing room in Derby’s historic Sterling Opera House felt like walking straight onto a vintage movie set frozen in time. Piles of discarded furniture and broken chairs sit completely undisturbed beneath peeling wallpaper and tall, sunlit windows.

A wide fisheye focal length captures the full scale of the room, from the green wainscoting and rusted cast-iron radiator to the heavily flaked ceiling plaster. Amber sunlight filters through decorative window coverings, casting warm highlights over scattered desk drawers and vintage chairs centered on the worn floor. Rich emerald greens and golden tones create a striking visual balance.
