Flower 001
Getting up close with flowering shrubs in full summer bloom always offers fantastic opportunities for macro detail. I spotted this fresh Rose of Sharon blossom open under soft morning light and moved in close with a macro lens. Working with a shallow depth of field requires steady hands and a calm breeze to keep the focal plane pinned right on the stamen.
The composition zeroes in on the delicate central stamen, covered in textured yellow pollen grains. Deep magenta streaks radiate out from the core of the flower, bleeding into silky white petals that softly blur into the background. The clean contrast between the bold crimson center and bright white outer petals creates an elegant, serene botanical display.
