Rainy Pasture 9-1-2017

While spending a late summer afternoon at a local Connecticut winery, a sudden thunderstorm started rolling in fast across the valley. Rather than packing up my gear and retreating inside immediately, I stayed out on the hillside to capture the fresh summer rain sweeping across the quiet, open fields below.

The wide composition frames two wooden lawn chairs facing a lone mature tree and rolling green farmland stretching into the distance. Visible rain streaks cut through the overcast sky, while soft light breaks beneath low storm clouds to illuminate the freshly mowed grass and wooded ridges in calming, earthy green tones.
