Burr Pond 10-23-2014
Walking around the shoreline trail at Burr Pond State Park in late October gives you front-row access to peak autumn color. The quiet morning conditions kept the water surface glassy, turning the entire pond into a natural mirror for the surrounding hills. Framing the shot from the bank allowed me to capture both the floating lily pads in the foreground and the dense wall of changing trees across the water.
The composition features rich layers of crimson, gold, and amber foliage stretching along the background ridge line. Scattered evergreen pines break up the warm canopy, while the water reflection reproduces the vibrant palette with subtle surface ripples. The field of dark lily pads adds tangible foreground texture across the cool blue pond water.
