Sea Turtle 9-8-2014
Watching marine life drift through giant aquarium tanks always makes you slow down and appreciate the glide of these creatures. While spending time at The Seas pavilion in Epcot, this large sea turtle drifted gracefully right in front of the viewing glass. Catching it mid-stroke without annoying reflections required getting the lens tight against the acrylic.
The photograph catches the sea turtle ascending on a diagonal angle through deep indigo water, flanked by passing schools of reef fish. Soft overhead lighting brings out the rough, weathered patterns on its heavy shell and powerful flippers. Deep blue gradients fill the frame, delivering a calm, immersive underwater backdrop for any monitor.
