Collinsville Old Mill 6-4-2013

Returning to Collinsville in early June, the scene along the Farmington River felt completely transformed by lush summer foliage. I set up my tripod right at the water’s edge to capture a smooth long exposure of the historic axe factory complex. The gentle flow of the river settled into a glassy mirror, giving the familiar brick walls a fresh look.

The shot shows the red brick and timber mill buildings curving around the still mill pond, with the smooth water creating a clean mirror surface. Billowing white clouds overhead and fresh green shoreline banks give the historic industrial landmark rich, vibrant character.
