Quiet moments along freshwater shorelines often reward careful observation. While scouting along the water’s edge, I spotted this green frog sitting motionless on an exposed lichen-covered boulder. Crouching low and shooting straight on let me capture a direct, eye-level portrait before it leaped back into the safety of the water.

The composition centers on the frog’s speckled green and golden-yellow skin, textured with subtle raised bumps along its back and snout. Its large, luminous golden eyes stare right toward the viewer, while the muted gray and olive tones of the surrounding rock keep the amphibian sharply defined across the frame.
