Wild Flower 8-28-2012
Spotting a tiny star chickweed flower deep in woodland shade is a reminder of how rewarding macro work can be. I got down on ground level along a moist forest trail to align the single flower against the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy. Handholding in low light took patience, but catching the delicate petals in sharp focus was well worth it.
The image showcases an eight-petaled white wild blossom perched on a thin, curving green stem. Deep crimson anthers dot the stamens, providing striking pinpoint color contrast against the pale petals. A smooth, luminous lime-green bokeh fills the background with soft circles of light, giving the lone woodland flower a peaceful, floating quality.
