Solar Eclipse 8-21-2017
Watching the August 2017 solar eclipse from Connecticut meant dealing with only a partial obstruction, but changing cloud cover actually worked in my favor. As the moon tracked across the sun, thin cloud layers drifted overhead, acting like a natural diffusion filter and letting me photograph the celestial alignment without blowing out the entire sky.
The resulting shot captures the glowing yellow solar crescent shining brightly through billowy layers of warm amber and charcoal clouds. The uneven cloud density provides genuine mood and texture around the bright solar sliver, framing the cosmic event with dramatic scale. Deep earthy tones throughout the dark sky create an engaging, moody astronomical display.
