Cornwall Covered Bridge 3-15-2015
I bundled up for a frigid winter drive out to the West Cornwall Covered Bridge following a heavy January snowfall. The Housatonic River was partially frozen over with large chunks of ice drifting past the stone piers. Stepping into the deep snow along the riverbank in the freezing cold, the intense low winter sun created an incredible natural backlight.
The wide angle frames the iconic red timber bridge spanning the icy river, set between snow-covered banks and bare winter trees. A brilliant sunburst flares brightly through the clear blue sky, casting crisp, long shadows across undisturbed white snow in the foreground.
