Thatched Roof 4-28-2014
While exploring a historic outdoor settlement, the heavy weathered texture of this traditional thatched roof immediately caught my attention. I aimed the camera directly upward into the dense layers of dried reed and timber thatch, moving in close enough to eliminate any outside reference points or modern distractions. Abstract architectural textures like this make for clean, distraction-free desktop backgrounds that offer plenty of visual interest.
The photograph is a tight macro study of dried reed stalks fanning outward in dense radial layers. Weathered tan, gray, and brown fibers showcase rugged organic texture, while soft ambient light defines the jagged tips and natural grain of the bundled thatch.
