Large Icicles 2-22-2014
Exploring the frozen rock gorge at Great Falls in Falls Village, Connecticut during deep winter reveals dramatic ice formations that completely transform the riverbanks. Working my way carefully behind one of the active waterfall drops, I discovered a massive wall of thick icicles hanging suspended right beside the roaring, churned current.
This macro perspective fills the entire frame with towering textured icicles, showing frozen ripples, trapped air pockets, and glassy crystalline clarity. In the background, deep shadows and bright white spray from the active falls create striking tonal contrast, emphasizing the razor-sharp edges and translucent layers of winter ice on computer displays.
